Our researchers are doing very well in the competition for funding for new research projects from both the Research Council of Norway and the European Research Council (ERC). In addition, Earth and environmental science at UiO rank 3rd in Europe outside UK.

In the autumn of 2024, UiO:Life Sciences announced a new application round for convergence environments. By the application deadline on 27 May, 51 applications were received.

Trude Storelvmo elected to the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters
Earlier in May, new members of the Academy were welcomed at the annual meeting of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters at Grand Hotel, Oslo. New member from 2025 is Professor Trude Storelvmo from the Department of Geosciences.

Change of the leadership at the Department of Geosciences
From May, the Department of Geosciences at the University of Oslo will have a new head: Joseph Henry Lacasce will take over from Bernd Etzelmüller, who will continue as deputy head until the end of 2025.
